Ukroboronprom preparing to conduct factory tests of 3D radar

Iskra Scientific and Production Complex (Zaporizhia), part of the Ukroboronprom State Concern, is preparing for factory tests of a new 3D surveillance radar, the 80K6T.

"The Ukroboronprom State Concern is preparing the 80K6T 3D radar for tests. This radar can detect objects in the air at a distance of up to 500 kilometers, updating the data every five seconds and accompany the targets with high resolution," Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko wrote on Facebook on Wednesday, November 29.

He noted that the radar's capabilities make it possible to use it with all anti-aircraft missile systems that are in service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces and as an information link in the Ukrainian Air Force units.

Ukroboronprom, in turn, provided on its page in Facebook the specifications of this surveillance radar. The radar is built on solid state modules. It is intended to deliver target designations to air defense means.

"The main feature of the 80K6T is an active phased array antenna. This technology helps detect and track targets with high resolution. Only one station simultaneously measures the target position at three coordinates: distance, azimuth and altitude," the state concern reported.

The 80K6T can detect air targets at a distance of up to 500 kilometers, at an altitude of up to 40 kilometers. At the same time, the radar can track up to 500 targets. This radar station can operate under significant resistance of the enemy's electronic warfare means. Thanks to this, 80K6T operators can easily "see" the airspace.
